AACS Circumvention
Earlier I was taking a look at the RSS feeds in Outlook and noticed one posting from Engadget titled “Newest AACS circumvented: The Matrix Trilogy set free.” Basically, the article says that SlySoft cracked the newest AACS update one week before discs with this update are going to be released.
I know this has been said many times all across the internet, but the AACS really needs to create a completely new innovating system, or suffer the consequence of losing everything. With the tools we have out for development today there is no way to stop any future cracking of any kind (hardware or software). The DRM is a waste of money for those businesses, but they’ll never admit it since they are good at fooling the other companies that buy into that technology.
Protecting your IP (intellectual property) is an important subject, and some level of protection should be established to prevent any complete take over. The sad fact is, if a large number of users find your product to be useful, they’ll always find a way to break it, no matter how much you spend to protect it. That’s just my brief two cents on the subject.
